How to Resolve Disconnecting or Dropping?
Issue: Disconnecting, not Staying Connected
Best Practices:
Step 1: Double-check that your device's auto-connect is enabled. Without this enabled, your device will not stay connected.
Step 2: Disable MAC Randomization or Private Address. Disable the Mac Randomization (Android) or the private address (IoS) function for all phones and tablets (and some laptops, too). This will help maintain consistent connections and mitigate repeated logins/disconnects.
- Pro Tip: Apple devices are especially prone to this issue.
Step 3: Forget (i.e., delete from known networks) all the Fiber Stream WiFi options (Including Fiber Stream WiFi 2.4Ghz, Fiber Stream WiFi, and Fiber Stream Signup).
Need help with step 3? Here is how to forget a WiFi connection for Android, iPhone, Windows Computer, MAC Computer, Smart TV, Roku, Firestick, Xbox, and PS5.
Step 4: Connect to the Fiber Stream WiFi 5Ghz - The recommended network for most devices. Fastest speeds and stability (least amount of interference in most cases)
Step 5: Power off from the power source for one full minute.
- Pro Tip: Roku Sticks, Firesticks, and other third-party TV USB devices must be disconnected from power and USB to the TV.
A successful power cycle may fix many issues and is required from time-to-time.
Step 6: Power up>reconnect to Fiber Stream WiFi 5Ghz option > Check for software and firmware updates.
- Tip: Your devices should always be fully updated for the best Internet experience.
